Music has the effect of altering our state of mind by the different frequencies they are composed at. You can feel this yourself when listening to a piece of music that makes you feel relaxed or one that makes you want to jump up and down. In terms of therapy and hypnosis, 'binaural beats', 'sound frequency harmonics'and 'hemisphere cross talk' are a few of the direct methods that can facilitate a certain state of mind. These states of mind can be used to achieve heightened learning, concentration, relaxation and to have the listener go into a deep meditative state. Different frequencies cause different mind states, or in other words different times of music (some of which you cant consciously hear) make your brain behave in different ways, and thus can be used for a wide range of different uses.
